D. L Hughley shows himself to be a coon.

D. L Hughley is not only an asswhole but he is a pure coon. Here is a quote taken from a blog called " What about our Daughters" which has a you tube clip of him on the Jay Leno show calling the women on the Rutgers team nappy headed and ugly.

" There were some nappy headed women on the team and those are some of the ugliest women I have ever seen in my life.” DL HUGHLEY on Jay Leno."

Although D. L Hughley claimed that the young ladies had Nappy hair, they dont most of them had either perms or extensions. It is obvious that D.L Hugley's remark was shot at the color of the skin of the ladies on the Rutgers basketball team and then to go on the Jay Leno show and call them some of the ugliest women hed seen is life. As far as Im concerned D.L Hughley is a " Coon" if thier ever was a coon.

dc_ speaks thank you so much for stopping by. I have no idea why He made the statements he made.

What a jack as#.

JustMeWriting said...

he did it because there's a very thin line between comedy and ignorance... be "funny" by any means necessary...what a fool.

my pleasure, brah. I really want to believe that it was just an attempt at humor and that his publicist will encourage him to clean it up quickly.

I have enjoyed him as an actor and comic for years. If that's how he feels then I will definitely be disappointed in him.

btw..please just call me dc.

I have seen you on my friend's blog leaving great comments. It was time to get inside your head. I'll be back and link you on my blog as well.

Peace, brotha!

mark bey: I actually really liked him before this statement now I really would like to put my hands around his neck and to think that this brotha goes around wearing dreads then to publicly call black women nappy headed in public. What a baffoon.

Absolutely. What else could it have been aimed at? I had the misfortune of watching some of that news coverage when it happened, and I know what those women look like. They were all attractive if you ask me...

Hughley is no better than Imus, scrounging for ratings through negative sensationalism.

I had no idea that he felt that way. It's a shame that senseless comments are made by "our" prominent people that the destroy the credibility of our regular folks.

Eddie G. Griffin said...

Let's get rid of this guy Hughley. I saw the video with Lino and clearly he pandered to racism by giving credence to Imus's racist statement. Being a movie star does not make him a god. We don't have to support him, watch him on tv, or pay to attend his public appearance. This is the kind of subversiveness that killed the cohesion of the movement back in the 1960s. They could always find a coon to make a stupid anti-black statement for the media. It's not surpising that when the media finished with them, they returned to oblivion from whence they came.

Dangerfield said...

Mr. Griffin it is an honor to have you comment here, I would love to get rid of the guy but acters are not stationary like a radio show host hosting the same program with the same sponsors.

Hugleys makes his money acting in different realms with different sponsors. So although I would love to destroy him completely for what he said I would have a hard time figuring out a strategy to hurt him.

Really, haven't those girls been through enough? First Imus, then having it played over and over again, then the death threats (the team got death threats from racists you know), now this. Just calling women ugly for no reason!? They are young girls! Doesn't he have daughters? That is a man who isn't standing by his sisters! Why not do a joke about something else. Did someone pay him to say that? Maybe so he can get a job at CBS?

Dangerfield said...

"Why not do a joke about something else."

mark bey: Hes a Coon thats why, this guy knows the history of how darkskinned people have been treated and made to feel inferior, and hear he goes making fun of how dark thier skin is. What a pompus jerk.

D. L Hughley needs to look at his own hair type first. He has the same kind of nappy hair, he is saying this so he can get a big comedy million dollar gig like Chris Rock. He is trying to get more attention and better million dollar TV and HBO specials by not having to compete for those comedy TV jobs against Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.

Hey, Mark. C'mon by the spot and leave me your thoughts.

Reading things of late around you and your fellow bloggers inspired today's topic.

I am disappointed by DL - because he was one of my favorite comedians. HOWEVAH, I don't know why people think celebrity - or - comedian puts them in the INTELLECTUAL sphere.

I recall seeing KRS-one(my FAVORITE rapper of all time) on a panel of 'experts' & professors and he asked, "Why am I here? I'm simply a rapper, not a trained expert." More celebrities should be that honest!

Damn...Wellllll I can only say...damn.

DL is a disapointment.

@ DJ

I couldnt understand why he would say such a coonish thing. Pure Turkey

He just needed some air time for not having any meaningful work lately

Tafari said...

You know, I have never liked DL. He is just not funny & really has no right to call anyone ugly cuz...

His words were irresponsible but let's be for real, what do you expect from a fool?

mark bey: JMW says thier is a fine line between comedy and ignorance. DL is too stupid to even come close to knowing the difference.

whoa. i have no words.

Mark ... thanks for this post.

my understanding is that DL Hughley was trying to show his support of free speech.

it seems that dl didn't realize that there are smarter ways to support free speech without maligning women who most likely look like women in his own family.

Like you blog a lot.

Or maybe DL didn't get the memo that Imus didn't get fired for exercising free speech, Imus was fired for screwing with Les Moonves and CBS cash flow.

Besides, a journeyman comedian such as DL knows not to phuck with Les Moonves -- Mr. Moonves has the power to put DL in another wack sitcom sometime in the future.
(Was Studio 60 cancelled yet?)

Oh well... I just hope DL's daughter never encounters any racism or sexism as she navigates the world.

come on, what did you folk really expect? this cat has been putting out crap like that for years. his humor is based on racial differences and he's always cracking on black folk. he has never struck me as the type to hold strong against the hollywood system. he makes his money off of ignorance.

all that said, i don't agree with calling him a 'coon'. i'm cool with checking his behavior, but calling him names just begats negativity.

" all that said, i don't agree with calling him a 'coon'. i'm cool with checking his behavior, but calling him names just begats negativity. "

mark bey: Niki you are probably correct but Im tired of people disrespecting the darkest of black people.

I witnessed this foolishness (and participated in it although Im darkskinned myself).

D L Hughely knows better because he is black to take shots at darksknined folks after all the abuse they have taken is unacceptable. But I agree with your sentiments about name calling in general.

What D.L.Hughley said is one of the most outrageous things I've heard in all my life. I do find it ironic but instructive that, in spite of having permed hair, the women on that team were criticized as "nappy-headed."

The take home lesson from that is that Black women might as well wear their hair in beautiful African braids that last two months and are impervious to water, because straightening your hair to please white people or Black people just doesn't work. Ultimately, what people first and primarily see when the see us is that we're Black. If they don't like that, they're not going to like anything else, no matter how much we press and bleach and hot comb ourselves. But that's their mental problem, not ours.

This is why Black folks have no power... because we refuse to CRUSH D.L. Hughley, we come to white America in weakness, merely running around putting out fires of racism, that spring up everywhere. It's simply the white folks who disrespect you that cause such Fervor.

But I do know, that if you, America's Black Women, grab D.L. by the neck, & put him down, folks will take notice, and future acts racism & disrespect, will be few, & far between.
