DANG I HATE COMMENT MODERATION

Hello folks this post is about nothing important. Just a post lamenting my severe annoyance and distaste about comment moderation. I have found that comment moderation kills any kind of debate one may try to engage in. You see a nice juicy vulnerable comment that you would like to address you type in your comment and then the comment moderation label comes up and says this comment is waiting for moderation from the owner of the blog. The reason why I hate comment moderation is because if a comment is over the top or goes againt the blog owners comment policy the owner of the blog can always delete any offensive comment later on. So instead of limiting free speach why not just delete comments you dont like later on that day? Please people turn the comment moderation off!

I have deleted some jacked up comments. I mean there was one where it was an ad. I was like delete.

I don't want comments that are offensive to myself or other bloggers. I have deleted a few comments. I am glad I don't get many weirdos.

I say use the comment moderation when necessary.

I think each bloggers page is theirs to do with what they wish, so "Free Speech" does not apply.

Hmmm. The way so many folks have been harrassed by ignorant, trifling folks on their blog space, comment moderation is almost SOP. It's like having protocols to conduct meetings: it keeps folks from monopolizing the conversation.

But, I feel you, Mark. Comment moderation, like meeting protocols, do interrupt the flow of open debate.

Ok you guys are correct about the triffling comments and the trolls. For that reason you guys are correct but I still believe that the moderation stiffles the debate especially when people leave comments in moderation for hours. That sh#t is annoying especially when I wanna go after someone for making a retarded comment.

It depends on the moderator. I moderate a blog (www.pulpit-pimps.org), but I will refuse to publish a comment for only one of two reasons:

1. A persons makes a statement about one of the subjects that is personal or unfounded. I fight gossip and juicy stories as much as possible.

2. A person keeps presenting the same lame argument over and over, demonstrating that they don't have a clue. In this case, I don't want to bore the readers.

Other than these restrictions, I always publish contributors' comments.
